Overview

We are the international trade organization for professionals tasked with sourcing legal services and managing legal services supplier relationships. We support professionals tasked with sourcing legal services and managing legal services supplier relationships through education, information, research, and advocacy.

Our offering is business-to-business only; we do not work with children or other protected groups.

The Buying Legal© Council is aware of our members’ and friends’ needs for security and privacy. The following document describes how we manage your and your organizations’ information.

Information Collection

We only collect limited information, such as name, organization, email, and location to enable us to communicate only relevant information and reduce the amount of emails we send out. The Buying Legal© Council is the sole owner of the information collected on our website. We collect information from our users at several different points on our website.

Registration: In order to use this website, a user must complete the registration form. During registration a user is required to give contact information (such as name/contact person, organization and email address). We use this information to contact the user about services on our site for which s/he has expressed interest. We do not request further personal information.

Information Use

Cookies: Our website uses cookies. However, usage of a cookie is in not linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We only use session ID cookies. Once users close the browser, the cookie terminates.

Log Files: We use log files including internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate.

Communications from the Site

Mailings: Members and friends will receive information from the Buying Legal© Council and our newsletter. Users have a right to opt out of receiving mailings from us. Please click “unsubscribe” in the mailing or send an email to doria [at] buyinglegal.com and we will handle your request promptly.

Welcome email: We send all new members/friends a welcoming email to verify password and username.

Customer service: We communicate with members and friends on a regular basis to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account. Communications may be conduced by email or phone, as requested by the member or friend.

Sharing

Legal Disclaimer: We make every effort to preserve user privacy. However, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our website.

Links: Our website contains links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage our users to read the privacy statements of other websites they access. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.

Security

Sensitive information related to payment (such as a credit card number) is directly handled by third-party providers PayPal and AffinityPay and not stored by the Buying Legal© Council.

Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information

If a user's information (e.g. email address) changes or if s/he no longer desires our service, s/he can update the information on our website or email us directly at doria [at] buyinglegal.com.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

If we use users' information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner.
